Sandwich Harbour is stunning from above. Giant sand dunes meet the ocean. The blue water against golden sand creates incredible contrast. This place is hard to reach by car.
Shipwrecks dot the coastline. Eduard Bohlen and Shawnee are the most famous. From the air, you see how sand has surrounded the Eduard Bohlen.
Seal colonies at Cape Cross show over 100,000 seals from bird’s eye view. Thousands packed on beaches.
Moon Landscape looks even more alien from the sky. Dry riverbeds carve patterns through rocks. No plants anywhere.
Sossusvlei flights show Dune 45, Big Daddy, and Deadvlei. Red dunes create waves of color. Flying saves you 4 hours of driving each way.

Most companies use Cessna planes. These small aircraft have 4 to 7 seats. High wings mean clear views down. Every seat has a window.
Eagle Eye Aviation is popular with different routes and flexible times. Scenic Air Namibia and Bush Bird are other good options. All operate from Swakopmund Airport.
Booking
Book a few days ahead. Peak season fills up fast. Morning flights have best light for photos. Afternoon flights work too. Some offer sunset flights.
Weather can cancel flights. Wind and fog keep planes grounded. Companies reschedule or refund if cancelled.
What to Bring
Bring your camera with charged batteries. Plane windows are clear for good photos. Sunglasses help against bright sun reflecting off sand. Bring light layers as it’s cold at altitude.
Don’t eat a big meal before flying. Small planes can make some people queasy.

One hour coastal flights cost N$3500 to N$4500 per person. Two hour Sossusvlei flights are N$7000 to N$8500. Longer flights cost N$10,000 or more.

Best Season
Flights run year round. Winter has clearer skies with less fog. Summer can be hazy but usually flyable. May to September generally has better flying weather.
