The journey begins as we drive past the protected wetlands, recognized under the Ramsar Convention for their ecological importance. The calm lagoons create a peaceful setting, with salt ponds mirroring the sky and pelicans, flamingos, and other birds feeding in the shallow waters. This sets the mood for the exciting experience ahead.

From the lagoon, we continue to one of Africa’s largest salt production sites, passing through the Walvis Bay salt pans. Here, the guide explains how seawater is turned into salt by channeling and evaporating it through a network of ponds. The result is pure white crystalline salt. The salt pans, tinted with pink and blue colors, create a unique and beautiful view surrounded by golden dunes stretching into the distance.

From the salt pans, we head into the Namib-Naukluft National Park, part of the world’s oldest desert. This is the start of your true off-road adventure. The guide steps out to deflate the tires for dune driving, preparing to climb and descend the steep sandy slopes of the Namib Desert. You will see his skill as he drives across the ridges, revealing amazing views of the golden sand and the Atlantic Ocean.

Depending on the tide, your driver will either drive along the coastline or take the higher dune route to reach the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon. Either way, the views are unforgettable and among the most beautiful in Namibia.
